Let’s be real, when your body is run down, your brain doesn’t exactly show up as the best version of itself. Have you ever tried to make a big decision while running on zero sleep, three cups of coffee, and a handful of stress snacks? Yeah… not ideal. I have been there, done that, got the t-shirt! LOL
We tend to treat mental clarity like it’s just about mindset. And yes, mindset matters. But your mind lives in a body. And when your body is inflamed, exhausted, undernourished, or dehydrated, it’s sending out an SOS, and your brain is the first to feel it. I learned this the hard way.
In one season of my life, I was going full speed, saying yes to everything, skipping meals or eating junk on the go, staying up late to “get it all done.” From the outside, I looked like I had it together. But inside? My mind felt foggy, my patience was thin, and I couldn’t hear from God through all the mental noise.
Here’s what changed the game: I got back to the basics. I started moving my body daily (even just a walk counts), fueled myself with real, whole food, prioritized hydration, and committed to sleep like it was sacred. You know what happened? The fog lifted. My thoughts cleared. I could focus again. I felt connected again.
This isn’t a coincidence. There’s science behind it. Movement releases feel-good chemicals like serotonin and dopamine. Nutrients like omega-3s and B vitamins support brain health. Sleep gives your brain time to clean house, literally. When your body is in rhythm, your mind has room to breathe.
It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being intentional.
If you’re feeling stuck, scattered, or spiritually disconnected—before you assume it’s a mindset issue, check in with your body. Are you moving? Are you fueling? Are you resting?
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do… is drink some water and take a nap. And… It is okay to take a rest!
You were never meant to run on empty. Your physical body is a vessel for your purpose, and when you care for it, your mind, and your mission become so much clearer.
